Winter Series Race #1 – Hosted by Wasabi

Race Information

Join Wasabi Paddling Club for the first winter series race of 2024! The long course begins at Fred’s Marina on Multnomah Channel, continues out to Willamette River and turns past St. John’s Bridge, goes back to Multnomah Channel and turns past Wapato Bridge to return to finish line. This is an 8- mile-long course of 4 distinct legs with stunning views at each turn. Short course follows same route but turns well before St. John’s Bridge.

Race Schedule
9 am: Registration & numbers
10:20 am: Safety meeting
11 am: Short course start
11:15 am: Long course start
12-1 pm: Finish
1:30 or so: Snacks & awards
2-3 pm: Pack up and leave

Race Fee: $35 (includes parking) + credit card fee

Lodging: AirBNB, VRBO, Portland hotels

Directions: From the North: take I-5 South to exit 302B, I-405 W.  Continue for 0.6 miles then take Exit 3 for US 30 W toward St Helens. After 7.9 miles turn right on NW Marina Way. After 0.8 miles, turn into the parking lot for Fred’s Marina.

From the South: take I-5 North to exit 299B for I-405 N.  Continue on I-405 for 2.5 miles.  Take exit 3 for US 30W towards St Helens.  After 7.9 miles turn right on NW Marina Way. After 0.8 miles, turn into the parking lot for Fred’s Marina.

Join us as we celebrate the new year. We’ll check the weather forecast up to event time. Quite often it’s a spectacular winter paddle day!

Paddlers are required to have a Coast Guard approved I, II, III or V PFD, also a whistle.

We’ll have coffee, homemade soup and the raffle after the race. Awards await!
