BACKGROUND:

At the 2023 PNWORCA annual general meeting, the Board of Directors approved a line item in the 2024 budget for $5,000 dedicated to PNWORCA Member Enhancements. These funds were accumulated through races fees implemented over the course of the past several years. The PNWORCA Executive Board has committed to returning these funds back to the general membership by way of Member Enhancement Grants in 2024.

The Executive Board has identified the member enhancement grants process and details for the official request for proposals (RFP) process are outlined below.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

In order for a grant proposal to be considered, it must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  1. Funds requested must be for a project/event/initiative that is a benefit to, and accessible by all, PNWORCA members.
  1. Funds request must be for a project/event/initiative that reflects the PNWORCA Purposes as indicated in Article II, Sections 1-7 of the PNWORCA bylaws (see below):
  • Section 1. To unite all outrigger canoe clubs organized in the Pacific Northwest, specifically, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Utah.
  • Section 2. To encourage and promote outrigger canoe racing activities among the member clubs of the Association and all other outrigger canoe racing associations throughout the world.
  • Section 3. To assist member clubs in organizing outrigger canoe races in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Section 4. To formulate rules governing competition and the conduct of competitions among the member clubs and to participate in the formulation of rules governing competition among member clubs and other outrigger racing associations.
  • Section 5. To set standards for equipment and safety for outrigger canoe races.
  • Section 6. To represent the member clubs of the Association at national and international forums for outrigger canoe racing.
  • Section 7. Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, the purposes of the Association shall not include engaging in propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation; nor shall they include the advancement of any of its purposes by engaging in propaganda or otherwise.
  1. Requested funds must be for a one-time expenditure to support project/event/initiative to be completed before December 31, 2024.
  1. Proposals for requested funds must clearly identify a PNWORCA member (not the Executive Board) in good standing as the organizer and executor. 
  1. Requested funds cannot exceed $5,000.

SELECTION PROCESS:

2024 Member Enhancement Grant proposals must be submitted to secretary@pnworca.org no later than 5:00pm PST on March 3, 2024. Proposals may be submitted via email as an attachment using the official Member Enhancement Grant Proposal form which is downloadable below. Proposals may also be submitted electronically using the online form submission below.

Grant proposals submitted by the deadline stated above will be evaluated by the PNWORCA Executive Board and notice of approval or denial will be sent no later than April 3, 2024.

NOTE ON PAYMENT SCHEDULES: Payment schedules for approved grant proposals will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, payments will be made following the SUCCESSFUL completion of the project/event/initiative. If there are up-front costs associated with the project/event/initiative partial payments may be made upfront with the remainder payments made following completion. Please be sure to clearly outline any up-front costs above.
