Wasabi Bridge to Bridge 2023

Location: Fred’s Marina, 12800 NW Marina Way, Portland OR 97231
Course length: 8 miles

Join Wasabi Paddling Club for the first winter series race of 2023! The race begins at Fred’s Marina on Multnomah Channel, continues on Willamette River to St. John’s Bridge, and back to Sauvie Island Bridge. This is an 8-mile-long course of 4 distinct legs with stunning views at each turn. Let’s hope it’s not raining! 

9 am: Registration & numbers
10:20 am: Safety meeting
11 am: Course start
12-1 pm: Finish
1:30 or so: Snacks & awards
2-3 pm: Pack up and leave

Fee: $35 + online fees=$36.35; credit card only

Since we last held this race in person Covid has taken its toll, we lost our boathouse, our temporary boathouse caught fire twice and is now being leveled, and our outrigger participation has soared! We’re finding ways forward with strength from ohana. Join us as we celebrate the new year!

Paddlers are required to have a Coast Guard approved I, II, III or V PFD, also a whistle.

We’ll have coffee and homemade soups after the race. Awards await! 

Directions to Fred’s Marina: From the North: take I-5 South to exit 302B, I-405/US 30W. Continue for 0.6 miles then take Exit 3 for US 30 W toward St Helens. After 7.9 miles turn right on NW Marina Way. After 0.8 miles, turn into the parking lot for Fred’s Marina.

From the South: take I-5 North to exit 299B for I-405. Follow I-405 for 2.5 miles. Take exit 3 for US 30W towards St Helens. After 7.9 miles turn right on NW Marina Way. After 0.8 miles, turn into the parking lot for Fred’s Marina.
